What type of leather do you use?
Vegetable tanned leather. The recipe for this type of leather = tannins (from tree bark) + U.S. steer hides + time (~1-3 months). We use only Hermann Oak Leather, a tannery which has been in business since 1881.

How did you get started in leather working?
My first leather working project was a simple wallet. I had a much beloved wallet that was worn and on its last leg so I decided to make a new one. I found an old pair cowboy boots at a second hand shop and cut up the leather and fashioned it into a wallet. Click here for a tutorial to make your own cowboy boot wallet.
